If you’re familiar with grief, loss, & death, it’s likely you will relate to & understand my intimate relationship with sadness, longing, & the desire to belong (to something greater than yourself).
When it comes to relationships the experience of mother loss at age 11 has had a ripple effect in my life. That is with self, family, marriage, partnership, career, and parenting. There has been a lot of searching, seeking, & sifting. Experiencing the death of a loving mother at a young age has informed my way of BEing forever & always.
If you have the experience of parenting a neurodivergent person you’ll understand the experience of a multitude of emotions over a short period of time. Several decades after mother loss, I birthed, raised, & now co-parent a neurodivergent young adult daughter (AuADHD).
The role of parent has taught & continues to teach me patience, self-awareness, unconditional love, the art of negotiation, advocacy, self-sacrifice, & how to navigate adversarial times with a persistent & unrelenting spirit. It’s also taught me self-compassion & how to care for myself in a way that replenishes & restores my body, mind, & spirit. By slowing down, resting, saying no, using my voice, stretching, moving, breathing, & creative self-expression, I am able to connect with myself in a way I never have.
I have experience counselling individuals with issues of grief & loss, career changes, assertiveness, boundaries, relationships & communication, anxiety, situational depression, & cognitive distortions.
My counselling services are contracted through Strength in Heart. Please book a virtual 20 minute consult so we can decide if we’re a good match for one another. You can do that through the link on this page. If there are not times available please send an email of your preferences and I’ll see what I can do to accommodate you. https://www.strengthinheart.ca/meet-sheila-1
