Laurie Scott, MS, RTC, DVATI, CATA Member is an art therapist and expressive arts practitioner offering a creative, client-centred approach to healing and self-exploration. Her work is grounded in the belief that the creative process can support meaning-making, emotional expression, and personal insight, especially when words alone are not enough.
Laurie provides art therapy and expressive arts sessions for individuals navigating grief and loss, life transitions, stress, anxiety, identity exploration, and emotional overwhelm. Her approach is gentle and flexible, inviting clients to engage with a range of materials such as drawing, painting, collage, textiles, and mixed media. Sessions may also include writing, storytelling, and nature-based creative practices, depending on each person’s comfort and interest.
Drawing from arts-based research and an experiential, trauma-informed lens, Laurie supports clients in exploring their inner landscapes through image, symbol, and process. She values slowing down, noticing, and allowing creative work to unfold at its own pace. There is no requirement for artistic experience—only curiosity and willingness to engage in a personal process of expression and reflection.
Laurie’s practice is also informed by her interest in nature, place, and lived experience, particularly the landscapes of the Kootenays. She creates a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore difficult experiences, reconnect with resilience, and discover new ways of understanding their stories.
In addition to individual sessions, Laurie offers creative workshops and group-based expressive arts experiences that foster connection, reflection, and community engagement. Her work is grounded in compassion, presence, and respect for each person’s unique creative voice.
Through art therapy, Laurie supports clients in finding space for healing, insight, and transformation—one image, one gesture, and one story at a time.
