Hello, welcome. I am so glad to meet you here. My name is Heather Barrett.
I am a practicing Expressive Arts therapist, trauma counsellor, and mindfulness based practitioner in Golden BC, as well as an artist, mother, lover of singing, movement, connection, all things nature, and so much more. I am grateful for the work I get to do and love working with people in one-to-one private sessions, and really enjoy in group facilitation as well.
Over the years my focus in my trauma-informed counselling practice has included the work of healing around intimate partner violence, sexual assault, childhood abuse, grief and loss, support for self-esteem and self-worth, depression and anxiety, fear and unworthiness, connecting with life purpose, and learning to let go of what doesn’t support and let in what does, to name a few.
I believe that learning how to love love and hold compassion for ourselves is a path to feeling whole and alive in our lives. I believe we are all connected, that our collective healing is linked to our individual commitment to live consciously from this place of love. I care to make a difference in this world and understand this work begins by healing from within. If this is calling to you I would be honoured to support you.
My practice is partially informed by the wonderful and wise teachings of:
Tara Brach, Jack Kornfield, Dan Siegel, Paolo Knill, Shaun McNiff, Gabor Mate, Pema Chodoron, John O'Donohue, Thomas Hubl, Paulo Freire, Richard Wagamese, Stephen K. Levine, Ellen Levine, Heather Dawson, to name a few...
