Greetings,
I have trained in various psychotherapeutic modalities including Relational Somatic Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and I am currently completing a master’s degree in clinical social work at the University of Calgary, specializing in trauma recovery. I am designated by the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada (ACCT) to work with clients as a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor and can provide receipts for insurance reimbursement.
Respecting my clients' intuition and agency is paramount to my counselling ethics and approach. My orientation is person-centered, trauma- and violence-informed, and grounded in principles of social justice, accessibility, and harm reduction. I completed the Simon Fraser University Restorative Justice Certificate Program and have a special interest in supporting crime victims and victims of abuse (emotional, physical, sexual, and spiritual).
As a former academic, I spent years teaching undergraduate literature courses at an urban university and enjoy facilitating therapeutic writing and other healing arts practices. I bring a strong mindfulness-based approach to counselling that is informed by many years of contemplative practice, including yoga and meditation. My personal history with depression, trauma, and chronic allergic reactions, which catalyzed my own therapeutic journey, has deepened my humility and my respect for each individual’s unique path through this complicated world.
I am happy to offer an initial phone consultation, free of charge, so that you can get a sense of whether working together would be a good fit.
