About Me

For as long as I can remember, I've been intuitively dancing and expressing myself creativity as a way to live fully and take the pressure off of being a highly-sensitive person. I grew up loving cats, doing gymnastics, playing piano, making dance routines, theatre performances, mix-tapes & multi-media creations for myself and loved ones. Becoming an Expressive Arts Therapist & Registered Therapeutic Counsellor has been a natural evolution and a passionate calling. My personal journey with trauma recovery, grief and mental health navigation give me lived experience to draw from in this work. I'm a devotee to the creative spark, who lives and works on the unceded territories of the Kwakiutl, Mamalilikala, and 'Namgis First Nations on what is also known as Malcolm Island, BC. I live with my husband, 20-year-old son and adorable cat. I've been facilitating movement and dance for 20 years; first as a hatha yoga teacher, then Kundalini Dance Faciliator before creating Rewilding Dance, Plants & Dance Journeys & co-founding Dance Temple Cowichan. Expressive Arts Therapy offered a beautiful evolution into a more trauma-informed approach to guiding somatic movement. I took a year off of a 22-year career in massage therapy, transformational bodywork & energy work practices and have recently added some of this back into my offerings for those who are not my counselling clients (dual relationship legalities). I've gathered the experiences of my career into a plant-filled basket and am bringing it forward into Expressive Arts Therapy and Counselling at this stage of my service. More info on my education & training is below should that interest you. I was born & raised, with my brother, in a musical family in Manitoba on the territory of the Métis Anishinabewaki ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭ and Očeti Šakówiŋ (Sioux) nations. Music and humour were core languages in the culture of our home. My parents are Sandra & Garry Lindell with an ancestral background of Swedish, Cree, Scottish & English heritage. I am a daughter, granddaughter, sister, mother, wife, and friend to humans, animals and plants. She/her are my pronouns. I have been in business for 18 years. I continue to fumble my way along the entrepreneurial path where I find hidden treasures, climb steep tech learning curves and explore the creative, colourful, humbling & empowering nature of service through business. I bow to the power of intuition and the Great Mystery we live in. I am dedicated to my family, friends, clients, plant allies, nature, music, dance, creativity & lots (& lots) of humour. I intend to meet you where you are at with embodied presence, gentle curiosity & confidentiality. I gently carry a willingness to be with what is difficult and an inspiration to encourage you to live a nourished and well-resourced life. ☆
