My name is Kathryn Richardson and I live in Vernon BC.
My life has seen many exhilarating highs as well as some extreme lows and all those in between stages. Recovery, many of life’s natural lessons, and some of which I had to learn the hard way, have all shaped me into who I am today. I went from being someone I hated, to now loving deeply.
What I have learned is this...it is possible to live every day with a peace of mind that with it brings bliss and calm. My goal is to bring this to those who need to find that space within themselves. I believe that through navigating my own experiences, I am able to give back with wisdom, tools and inspiration to those in need. I have walked this life in many different shoes and due to this I can ‘get’ where you are.
My intention is to also help you find hope when you don’t think there is any…

My space with you will be safe and non-judgmental. A place where you are allowed to share openly, no matter how uncomfortable it may be. You, and your healing journey, are important to me.
Almost every interaction we have is influenced by habits and belief systems that have been ingrained in us from the time we were little kids.
This is why we often attract partners with similar characteristics, have the same kinds of frustrations with coworkers, and play out the same fights with loved ones over and over again. This tangled web of frustrations can be debilitating, and therapy can loosen the knot. My approach to therapy is targeted, strategic, and specific to you. We name the frustrating patterns, identify the core conflicts behind the patterns, then systematically address them.
We will take an in-depth look into your family’s belief systems and trans-generational traumas (what was passed on to you) as well as intergenerational transmission (what you are passing on to others). We will determine what landed on you and how to initiate repair. With curiosity and compassion, we'll explore where these beliefs and defenses came from, how early life experiences have shaped you, and have led to your feeling unhappy, lost, or confused and ultimately seeking therapy.
I believe each person has a natural desire to grow and I work with those who are eager to learn about how they became who they are. (Science based and complex psychoeducation that is translated to be easily understood) .Therapy with me is a collaborative challenge. We'll sit with your uncomfortable emotions, explore your pain, all in an effort to better access the exhilarating joys of your life.
My therapeutic style is centered around respect and empathy, infused with humor and kindness. My aim is to help you alleviate your pain and become more aware of your feelings, and patterns of relating to yourself and others.
With a psychodynamic influence, I use a number of trauma-informed approaches to understand your life experiences. The ways that we've learned to cope, our defenses, are all rooted in self-protection.

A little about me…I am a lover of all animals, a West Coast Trail style hiker, a passionate learner (useless information included), I paint pet portraits in watercolor, my dog is my best friend, I have coffee with my chickens every morning, my 2 cats keep me in line and my greatest teachers are my 4 grandkids.
