Life often brings challenges that touch deep feelings within. Often these feelings are experienced as fear, doubt, disconnection, confusion, and anxiety. I believe there is a vast storehouse of qualities, skills, resources, and strengths within each of us that we can learn to connect to, draw from and further develop.

Together, clients and I work to find those resources that are buried deep within and bring them out to assist one in moving more fully into life, making the life changes necessary or supporting a time needed for healing and grieving. Counselling, hypnotherapy, and therapy is a process of finding new ways of being the unique individual you truly are and living life fully from a more integrated way of being.

Counselling      

        All of us face issues that interfere with our peace of mind at various times in our lives. Some of these issues tend to move and change themselves, some linger. Counselling allows us to look at the underlying beliefs we may be unconscious of and those we are conscious of. Awareness helps us to bring more choices into our lives, allowing a movement towards who we really long to be and live the life we desire to live. Live into the possibilities of a more complete Self.

Understanding the Aspects of Your Mind

You have a conscious mind and an unconscious mind. Your conscious mind creates your reality, your perception of the world, and works very hard to maintain that reality as you go about your daily life. Your unconscious mind stores all your abilities (those you know you have and those you are not aware of), understandings, and memories outside the awareness of the conscious mind, and the unconscious is able to access those resources. The Unconscious is an unlimited place of experiential leanings. The conscious mind seeks answers to “why”. The unconscious knows why. A powerful ally just waiting to be accessed.

Q How does Counselling work?

Counselling is a process; an exploration of self which includes connecting with feelings and gaining insight thereby creating solutions to the issues which bring us to counselling. As safety and the relationship between client and counsellor deepens it enables the client to look at their deeper issues and connect with inner skills and abilities. It is the exploration of these deeper issues which enables us to understand the source of our difficulties and how they express themselves in our life. This understanding often allows us to be more self-accepting and compassionate which leads to change. Counselling helps to make the unconscious conscious.

Q How will I know therapy is working?

We will monitor your progress throughout our therapeutic relationship. Every person’s experience is different. Talking and being heard in a safe environment often brings relief as you begin to deal with issues that may have been buried for a long time. For some people, insights and revelations which herald change can come about subtly and take place over time or manifest quickly. Many clients find their perspective begins to change as they reconnect with inner resources, skills, and abilities. Clients often find progress made is directly related to a willingness to reflect and continue the development of awareness between sessions.

For those clients interested in a variety of modes of expression I invite them to use hypnotherapy, art, journaling, movement, dreams, and body focus as tools to connect with the many aspects of self.
