Q Can resolving traumatic experiences and relationships reduce anxiety and depression?

Yes, absolutely. Our psychological system will take parts of the trauma experience and suppress it to ensure that we continue to cope and survive. What happens though, is the suppressed information can create symptoms and present as anger, anxiety, stress, depression, illness, disease, disorders etc... This suppressed "energy" is what gets triggered and we become "reactive" rather than "responsive". When you confront and process any trauma the stress energy that has been attached to the trauma gets discharged and you will then naturally feel better and function better - like you were meant to!
