Finding the right counsellor is a personal decision. You may be reaching out because life feels overwhelming, something has shifted, or you’ve found yourself feeling disconnected from who you are. Whatever brings you here, you don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin.

I’m Jen McGucken, a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor in Edmonton, Alberta. I offer a warm, non-judgmental space where you can slow down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and explore what you need with someone who is genuinely present with you.

My counselling style is conversational, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own life. I use an integrative, trauma-informed approach, drawing from different therapeutic perspectives to meet you as an individual rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method. Our work may include exploring emotions, relationships, life experiences, patterns, and the ways your mind and body respond to what you’re going through.

I won’t tell you who you should be or where you need to go. Instead, I’ll offer curiosity, compassion, perspective, and, when appropriate, gentle challenge. Together, we can create space to better understand yourself, identify what matters to you, and consider what moving forward might look like.

I believe meaningful change doesn’t have to happen all at once. Sometimes it begins with having somewhere to put down what you’ve been carrying and being met with understanding.

If you’re considering counselling but aren’t sure where to start, I offer a complimentary 20-minute discovery call. It’s an opportunity to ask questions, share a little about what’s bringing you in, and decide whether we might be a good fit.
