Hello! I’m Mary Hofstede.

I have always been inspired by the richness of life and the resilience and beauty of the human spirit. I’m passionate about helping people make sense of their experiences and reconnect with their inner strengths, values, and joy.

At Connecting Point Counseling, I honour each person’s authenticity and individuality. I offer a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where people can explore life’s challenges, gain new perspectives, and feel genuinely heard and understood.

I am a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor trained in a variety of approaches that help people connect their past and present in healthy, meaningful ways. I specialize in EMDR for healing trauma, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for strengthening couples’ relationships, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work for reducing anxiety, resolving inner conflict, and addressing negative self-talk.

My approach focuses on three important areas of our lives: family, relationships, and community. Together, we can work toward greater purpose, connection, and a deeper sense of belonging.

Q How do i communicate with others without me or them feeling defencive?

Let’s explore Emotionally Focused Theory because it offers a compassionate approach to transforming communication. Rather than focusing only on surface-level conflict, it gently uncovers the deeper emotional needs and attachments that shape our interactions.
