Parminder Thind (She/Her), Registered Counsellor, has sat on the Board Executive Committee as Director and Secretary for ACCT (the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists). She was also the past Secretary and Chair of the ACCT Equity Committee, where she is making a difference in the ways in which people of colour are viewed.
My practice is in family systems, intergenerational/racial trauma, personal relationships, addictions, and heightened emotions (e.g. anxiety, anger, depression, etc.).
I believe we all want to be heard and not feel self-conscious. My approach to therapy is listening with an open heart and using a non-judgmental approach. I began my counselling journey over 30 years ago, and I did not know that I had a choice of finding someone I could connect with. Someone with a similar background, beliefs and values would have benefited me greatly, and I would have felt understood. I believe the client–therapist relationship should be honoured, comfortable, trauma-informed, and gentle. We will work together at your pace and direction, speak about your challenges and come up with the right resources and tools so that you are in charge of your healing.
In my downtime, I enjoy cooking, yoga, Reiki healing, meditation (simran and kirtan), exercising, upgrading my knowledge, and the company of family and friends. Recently, I have started learning more about my faith through a decolonized perspective. I speak both English and Punjabi. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in my services. Your introductory session is free. Let’s see if we are a fit!
