My Practice

I am a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor and Certified Coach and a proud member of the Association of Counselling Cooperative Therapists of Canada (ACCT) as well as the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA). I specialize in working with individuals and groups in the areas of high stress exposure, over-worrying and parenthood.

I work with clients who …

   >   are experiencing high pressure work environments

   >   face prolonged stressors, professionally or personally

   >   suffer from over-thinking and over-worrying

I work with parents and Moms-to-be who….

   >   experience prenatal or postpartum depression and related mood disorders

   >   feel overwhelmed with their (new) parental role

   >   just need to talk to an objective person about how they really feel!

Get good. Get real. Get going.

“There is always something going on, Subha!” That’s a very popular phrase I’m hearing from my clients.

Yes, there is! This is life and as long as we live it, there will always be an area that needs improvement or a challenge that needs to be resolved. How many of us have a perfect looking life from the outside but feel unhappy or unfulfilled inside?

Together, we take a deep dive under the surface, so that we understand the origin of the problem. In this way, understanding is achieved and positive change is possible. In our sessions, you will gain a new perspective that you could not if you were just on your own. Previously faced obstructions may now appear as opportunities. You don’t just learn how to cope, but you will uncover new strengths.

We’ll be develop a plan with long-lasting results. Because that’s what I offer: Not just the quick fix, but a long lasting solution.

My Style

What makes me different from other Counsellors and Coaches? I am aware of your time commitment, and being efficient in my work is a value that I cherish. You will be leaving every session with a clear plan and this is what I will make sure each time we see each other. With a plan, you can always count on progress and improvement.

I am direct and on the spot, solution-focused and believe that your success is in the end, our success.

Chronic Stress and Over-worrying

When experiencing prolonged stress, we tend to develop tension that seems to freeze us inside. It makes us feel like being on a rollercoaster ride: Tension creates more stress and more stress creates even more tension. The same applies to Worrying. Over-worrying results in the worry gaining importance and that leads to worrying even more.

Now ask yourself: If you are not functioning at your best, how do you want to sustain performing on a high-level for the long-term?

This is where Counselling can help. We’ll be establishing solutions that will:

   >   Bring clarity to the origin of the issue

   >   Enhance your understanding of the impact of conscious and unconscious beliefs about yourself

   >   Get you out of the worry-cycle

   >   Learn how to cope with stress and how to use a stressful situation to your advantage

   >   Prevent burnout

   >   Help you to juggle responsibilities while feeling more fulfilled

Working with Moms-To-Be and Parents

“You’ll be having a baby soon! You must be so happy…”  … and no, not necessarily.

This often heard refrain in our society does not leave lots of room for other experiences. It is, however, quite normal to feel overwhelmed, anxious and even lost in the search for identity as a new parent. Having a child changes everything in our life! Routines, priorities, values are just a few examples.

Prenatal depression and postpartum depression affects up to 1 in 7 women. Most of them, however, face their challenges silently, and without support. While the people around you may continue to cheer about the (expected) baby, shame and guilt can creep up for not being able to join in.

I offer a space where unspoken words and suppressed despair can find expression and support. The expectation of a parent may have an immense weight but with counselling this burden can be relieved, and eventually you can find a way to connect with the bright side again.

More about me

Already in my early years, I was facing highly competitive environments as a solo flutist. Constant pressure to be better than others and delivering best performances at all times turned me inevitably into a “race horse”. The career switch to law studies did not decrease this quality and subsequently I became a work- and achieve-aholic.

Eventually, I was re-evaluating my life and the meaning of success. I wanted to feel fulfilled and balanced instead of pulling energy from an overdose on sugar (which seemed to work and bring me through 20 hours work days!). Working with people, listening for the meaning in between lines and applying accurate analyzations based on precise observation has always been something that excited me, a passion that I finally was ready to follow. As a Counsellor and Coach I found the fulfilment that I have been looking for, and I am joyous to say that my job is my passion.

I grew up multi-lingual and I am fluent in English, German, Slovak and Czech.
